I’m a bit of a gear junkie. I love good gear and I love good technology. I can also tend to be a brand snob. When I got into fly fishing back in the day, I wore Simms boy’s waders, casted a Sage 9’ 5-wt Light Line and had a Ross Gunnison reel. Everything about the setup was classic and beautiful, and it worked like a charm to get me literally hooked on this sport, except the waders. While the Simms waders were well-made and never leaked even though I put them through the ringer, I have to say they were not nearly as technical or comfortable as the waders of today.

Case in point – Simms has just come out with an improvement on their Men’s Guide Classic stockingfoot waders and jacket which come in at a good price.  Now I could go on and on about the technicality of these waders but let me just suffice it to say that these waders are breathable, durable, and stylish.  Yes, I know that most men could care less about what they look like on the riverside, but bear with me here. I think a man in waders is sexy … and if he can cast a tight loop, even better. So, when I say these are stylish, just go with it because they are. And, camo is currently in, even in the high-end designer fashion market.

But all of that second paragraph aside, the reality is that Simms has done it again with these waders. They’ve taken the timely Classic and given it a technological upgrade. Allow me to geek out for one second. Utilizing the same fabric from their higher end G3 Guide Wader, the Classic also has the suspender with opposing buckles so they easily convert from full wader to waist high, a fleece-lined hand warmer pocket and more. And did you know that the GORE-TEX membrane contains 9 billion (yes with a B) microscopic pores per square inch and that the pores are so small that water droplets cannot get through, but water vapor can still escape? That’s what a breathable wader is, and these are the top of the line when it comes to breathability.

So, if you’ve ever been out on the water in your dad’s old neoprene waders, sweating your patootie off, or if your dad still has those old neoprene waders, then the time has come for an upgrade, and these are the ones to get.  Just a reminder also that Father's Day is just around the corner! The waders come in at $449.95 and the jacket at $399.95. You can shop the waders here and the jacket here.

And, if you're looking for something other than waders and a wading jacket, feel free to shop all the great Simms products here.

Just as an FYI, this is an unpaid post that I am not being compensated for.  I wrote this for the sheer reason that I love these waders and I think they're worth every penny.
